signed, sealed, and delivered.

both of our entire medical visa applications have been submitted.  the submission clerk and her manager reviewed them, i paid, and they are off.

the staff, as always, were very nice at the office.  the female clerk now recognizes me.. hehe!  i know a few of you have asked me this, so the fee, per application, is approximately $152 CAD.  also, this time they must courier it back to us, whereas for the tourist visa we were able to pick it up, so that’s a bit different and i hope it causes no delays.  i am so lucky to work at home most of the time, so i can be around (hopefully) when the courier shows up.

please, whether you send good vibes, burn incense or candles, pray, meditate, do magic, make offerings of food or flowers, throw pennies in a fountain, or whatever, please just put in a good word or two for us, for our medical visas to be approved in time for our departure, and then also for our surrogacy to be successful.  i am counting on everyone i know, and even you all i don’t know except through this blog, and i will do the same for you whenever you should need it.

thanks y’all!

About namaskarambaby

We are a BC couple who are about to start the process of having a baby using a gestational surrogate in India. We would like to share the process, so the steps will be clearly laid out for other couples who would like to know about this journey, as they may be in a similar situation. We also will likely stay anonymous, as this is a bit of a private process, and we are so early on in the process, that we aren't even sure it's going to work. "Namaskaram" is a greeting in Hindi (the official language of India), which is appropriate for people of all ages... I guess it's similar to Namaste, which is commonly used in the yoga community. This is our first blog, so bear with us. Stay tuned.

  1. all the best and I hope you get your visas soon. They are a nightmare! Ours cost $198 AU each, plus $111 for our son….ouch! Out of interest, can you tell me how long they are issued for as they are telling us here that only 3 month single entry medical visas are now being granted, and yet other people have managed to get multiple entry longer visas….right person right time I guess. Oh the inconsistencies!!

    • i put down 2 months for ours, single entry… but then the woman said that their computer system only allows for six months, so i really have no idea what we will end up with. i will let you know what shows up on the page when we get them back…. such mystery!

  2. Have you heard from the visa office yet? I hope you will get good news soon. Indeed, this is mysterious. We still don’t know the cost and the length of stay allowed for our application. At least, they have not taken our money. They will see if we are eligible to a medical visa before charging us! I have no clue how much it will be… I’ll be happy to pay if they grant the visa to us!

I was wondering did you included the letter “Surrogacy letter for prospective parents” from the High Commission of Canada of India to your application? I was wondering if it was sufficient as it doesn’t clearly state whether or not the child/children born out for surrogacy to us two will be given Canadian citizenship. The penultimate paragraph on the letter emailed to us is not conclusive in this aspect. Do you mind sharing the content of the letter. Have contacted the High Commission of Canada of India for this regards.

Best of luck to all us !!

    • Yes Joyce, I did include that letter and it was exactly what they wanted. It does state that surrogacy is recognized in Canada and that the children will be permitted entrance into Canada and that the child(ren) may be citizens automatically if they are the genetic children of a Canadian parent(s), as they may pass on the citizenship to their child. There will be a whole lot more work at the end of the goal, that we will need to do to ensure our prospective babes get their Canadian citizenships, but this letter is what we need at this stage. Good luck to all of us, I agree!
